Al-Hemyam: The delay in the reconstruction of the mosque by UNESCO is unjustified and unreasonable and our next step will be serious with our partners
During his visit to al-Nuri Mosque and his minaret of hadba.
The head of the Sunni Endowment , Sheikh Abdul Latif al-Hemyam, visited al-Nuri Mosque and his minaret al-Hadba on the right coast of Mosul to see the process of rebuilding it after the destruction of terrorism.
Dr. Al-Hamyam told UNESCO: The delay in the reconstruction of the mosque is clear, large, unreasonable and unjustified by the organization, explaining that the organization was arguing with mines, noting that the administration of the city of Mosul informed the Sunni Endowment Dewan that the place was free of mines and debris.
Al-Hemyam added: The delay from UNESCO has lost the content of the message of hope promised by Mosul, stressing that the site was handed over to the organization more than a year ago after it was equipped with electricity and all excesses removed.
The next step will be a serious discussion with our partners in this project, he said.
Sheikh Al-Hemyam also inspected the Aguawat mosque to see the devastation that followed ISIS’s capture of the city in 2014.
