Dr. Abdul latif Al Hemyem checks the Minaret of Al Klufa’a mosque and directed the engineering cadres to address the damages in it; and he assured to the Baghdadian that there is no need to worry about the minaret after reports about a huge damages in the minaret of Al Klufa’a mosque in Baghdad, Dr. Abdul latif Al Hemyem checks the Minaret of Al Klufa’a mosque on Saturday 4/2/2017.
Dr. Abdul latif Al Hemyem checks the ancient Minaret of Al Klufa’a mosque and saw the damages in it and its bending due to the cracks in the walls of minarets and listened to the reports of the engineering cadres about their work in repairing the cracks.
After his checking the ancient minaret he directed the engineering cadres to work harder and asking help from UNESCO and consulting engineering offices, and to provide all the potentials to repair the cracks of the minaret and stop its bending.
Dr. Abdul latif Al Hemyem said: ” we care about the ancient and mosques and when we noticed the bending of the minaret of Al Klufa’a mosque; we immediately formed a crisis commission to maintain the minaret and there were some agreements with Italian scientists to find urgent solutions related to soil and the nature of the minaret. he added;” the minaret considered a part from the Baghdadian and Iraqi people memory and we will make great efforts to maintain it, and we will work slowly to solve the problems because working fast makes some damages in the minaret and Diwan make some agreements with UNESCO to keep the ancient and heritage mosques.
He added, ” I checked the minaret from inside and outside and I went up to its roof, I assured to Baghdadian people that the work of maintaining the minaret is ongoing.
From his side, the General Director of the engineering Directorate Mr. Sabah Ahmed showed that there is a solution done by the engineering cadres; pointing out that they formed a specialist team that works to find solutions and cooperating with a team from specialist and national organizations.
